4. It is to on understood that your engagement is for not more than three years from the date of your arrival in the Federated Jala, States; and that, if it is established to the hatásfaction of the High Commissioner that you are no qualified for efficient mervice tung, be will, cubject to the confirmation of tna Becretary of State, have full power to canoni your appoinment at any time within the said three years without giving you any further compensation than a passage back to England, which will be granted only if the High Commissioner is satisfied that you have, by your good conduct, deserved it. If not previously terminated, or expressly reaved, the appointment will cease at the end of the said threa years, and you will then be given a passage back to England, provided, that your services have given satis- faction and that you avail yourself of the passwe within a month from the termination of your engagement, if your engagement is continued, you will be placed on the pensionable establishment of the Federated kainy States, your salary being raised to £180 a year, risi by aunual inoreosats of £lu to £210 a year, and your previous service on the temporary establishomnt will count for the purposes of leave and pension. in that event you will lose claus to a return passage in
